Here’s a handy button, “Hide Contact Details” now available in GoldMine 9.0.1.

When you click it the contact information in GoldMine collapses to 1 row giving you more room to see Pending, History, etc.

A Hotfix to the original release of GoldMine 9.0 is now available.

I had a great response from last week’s post on Great SQL Query for Ensuring Good Data Hygiene and thought I’d take it one step further with GoldMine 9’s new Dashboard functionality.

I created a Dashboard that will accomplish what the SQL Query will do, but with more flexibility, and a much better user interface.

You can select the date range for the Contacts created in, as well as the field you want to find the ‘empties’ for.

datahygienedashboard1

datahygienedashboard2

You can click on either the Name or Creation Date listings to go to that record.

datahygienedashboard3

Do a Right-Click | Save (Depending on your browser) to download the dashboard and import into your GoldMine 9 Dashboards:

http://www.thegoldmineblog.com/dashboards/Data_Hygiene_Missing_Info.xml

You can import into your Dashboards with a Right-Click | Import if you have “Master Rights” in GoldMine.

I’ve started releasing videos on the Dashboards in GoldMine 9, if you’d like to learn more about how to use, as well as create them, subscribe to GoldMineTraining.NET.

GoldMine is not yet officially compatible with Office 2010.  I have yet to test it myself, but people have the Word and Excel links working OK, but the Outlook link definitely does not work.  Until a patch is release for your version of GoldMine, be sure to use a compatible version of Office if you are using the Word, Excel, and/or Outlook links.

Here’s a link to GoldMine’s compatibility matrix: http://frsconnect.frontrange.com/wiki_entry_view.aspx?topicid=b260f4c5664e45d6aac0b3b2343a2ec8

With the release of GoldMine Premium Edition 9.0, I want to review some of the major and not-so-major enhancements you’ll see with the new version of GoldMine.

The first item, and I think, biggest, are Dashboards.  The GoldMine 9.0 Help File has a great introduction…

“The GoldMine Dashboard is a place were you can quickly view and access data based on predefined criteria and view real?time informational graphics and data tables with controls to select the desired information for viewing. Dashboards are user-defined summary views of data from internal and external sources.

By using Dashboards, you can quickly: measure the flow of new Leads, view a filtered list of Lead records, chart Opportunities and Forecasts, review the Customer Service processes, review “to-do” lists, calendar, inbox, and progress toward Sales objectives, and view Forecasts and Appointments.”

GoldMine Premium Edition 9.0 ships with several pre-built dashboards for your immediate use.  As well, if you can think of data that you want to display it’s definitely going to be doable.  This includes GoldMine data, as well as data from external systems.  If you want to get a dashboard with information from your accounting system, as long as it’s accessible via an ODBC connection, it can be displayed.

So here are a few screen shots of the dashboards that ship with GoldMine Premium Edition 9.0.

Over the years I’ve posted a number of SQL Queries that help you get information out of GoldMine:

http://www.thegoldmineblog.com/category/sql-query/

I’ve discovered an excellent site that you can copy and paste these and any other SQL to that’ll give you great looking and readable SQL queries.

http://www.sqlinform.com/online.phtml

So you click on the link and ‘Accept’ the disclaimer and then copy and paste your SQL code onto the page.

sql

Click Format and you’ll see a much more readable SQL Query.

sql2

Now, the results are not going to be any different, but you’ve got much better code for reading, debugging, etc.
Hope you enjoy as much as I do.  I’ll be running all my future SQL Query tips through this!

This is a question I get quite often, and it’s a simple change for you!

When you click Search (Or Find in GoldMine 7.x or below) the Contact Search Center comes up and you can find the record you’re looking for.

goldmine-search

goldmine-search-center

Many people prefer this to default to a company name search rather than the contact name search.

To do this go to Tools | Options (Edit | Preferences in GoldMine 7.x and below) and go to the Lookup tab.

lookup-options

Change the Default lookup to Company, and click OK.  It’s easy as that!

Also, don’t forget use the F4 key as a keyboard shortcut to open up the Contact Search Center as well as double-clicking on the field label.  http://www.thegoldmineblog.com/2007/03/double-click-to-find-a-record/
